Oe Genpo (大江玄圃)

Genpo OE (May, 1729 - March 26, 1794) was a Confucian scholar and a composer of Chinese poems in the late Edo period.

His name was Sukehira. His azana (Chinese courtesy name formerly given to adult Chinese men, which used in place of their given name in formal situations; Japanese scholars and the literati adopted this custom of courtesy name) was 穉圭. His common name was Yukie HISAKAWA. His go (pen name) was Genpo and Jishudo. He lived in Higashiirumachi, Abura-no-koji, Sanjo, Kyoto.

He studied under Baigan ISHIDA and learned Chinese-style poem from Soro RYU, kobun (ancient script) from Hakku OKADA, Chinese from Ryu Tonan in Nagasaki and koto (a long Japanese zither with thirteen strings) from 安子貫 in Kyoto.
